What is a business loan?
Nice and simple: a business loan is money your company borrows from a bank or private lender.
The lender transfers the money into your account and you repay it over an agreed period of months or years. Your repayments also include interest, so you’ll pay back more than you borrow.
Businesses use loans for lots of reasons, including funding growth plans, purchasing materials for large orders, and spreading annual costs over a longer term.

Why businesses borrow from Allica
We’ve lent over £4 billion to established businesses since 2019 and been named Best Business Finance Provider at the British Bank Awards five years in a row.2

What interest rates can my business expect on a business loan?
With Allica, what you see is what you get. We’re happy to be upfront about our rates, which range from 9.90% to 13.75%. You’ll get an indicative rate with your decision in principle, which takes just a few minutes. The exact rate you’re offered will depend on the details of your application, business, and guarantors.
How are the loans secured?
Our business loans are secured by a personal guarantee from your company’s director(s) who are ultimate beneficial owner(s).
What turnover and trading history do I need to qualify?
Your business will need to have filed at least three years of accounts, as well as providing evidence of at least 150% debt service cover. Only limited companies and limited liability partnerships in England, Scotland, and Wales can apply.
Are there arrangements or early repayment fees?
With Allica, you’ll pay a 3% arrangement fee. You can choose to add the arrangement fee to your loan balance or we can subtract it from your loan amount. As for early repayment charges – there are none. You can repay the loan early and it won’t cost you anything extra.
What financial information will the company need to provide?
As part of your full application, you’ll be asked to provide supporting documents. These will include:
If you’re borrowing up to £75,000, we’ll need to see three months of business bank statements. We’ll also need to see 12 months of management accounts (less than 60 days old) or your full accounts from the last two years (less than six months old).
If you’re borrowing over £75,000, we’ll need to see six months of business bank statements. We’ll also need to see the two years of accounts, plus management if your last filed accounts are more than six months old.
You may also be asked to provide a statement of Assets, Liabilities, Income and Expenditure after you have submitted your application. If we need this, we’ll let you know directly and share a template to make it easier to complete.
